NOTES FROM ACROSS THE POND

Welcome to my blog!

I recently completed a Master of Studies (MSt) in US History at the University of Oxford’s Rothermere American Institute (RAI). I was also a member of St Cross College. Before joining Oxford, I graduated with first class honours in Politics from the University of Warwick where I was also a Research Assistant.

I am broadly interested in modern American political and religious history. More specifically, I am particularly intrigued by American Evangelicals and their place in the New Right movement. I also have a sub-interest in the social history of consumption. My MST thesis, which was supervised by Professor Uta Balbier, explored how the secular and the sacred intertwined at Liberty University's biweekly worship gathering, Convocation. The thesis revealed how neoliberal culture, ritual and ideas, such as consumerism, servant leadership and the prosperity gospel, served to complement Christian nationalism.
